Valuations

Our Valuer, experienced auctioneer and manager James Broad (as seen on BBC's The Bidding Room), is available for pre-sale verbal appraisals without charge or obligation. We offer a Valuation Service for Insurance, Probate or Family Division.

James will be happy to visit your home to provide a free, no obligation valuation on large quantities of items, such as house clearances and collections. Please feel free to contact us via phone or email and a member of our team will be happy to discuss a visit. You are also more than welcome to bring your items down to our auction room during our opening hours to be viewed by one of our valuers, who would be happy to take a look and provide a free valuation, or alternatively you can email photographs of your items to 'valuations@whittakerandbiggs.co.uk' and one of our valuers will be in touch as soon as possible. 

Professional valuations

We provide a professional valuation service for private clients, solicitors and professional advisers.

An inventory of the contents of your house is a valuable record. We tailor make each valuation depending on the clients' needs and provide a professional document for your records. We offer a strictly confidential service at competitive rates. We are always happy to visit you to discuss your specific requirements and the proposed valuation, and will also provide a quotation for the work to be undertaken.

We prepare valuations for:

• Retail Replacement - which can include a fully illustrated inventory
• Probate - we will liaise with solicitors to prepare a full inventory and arrange the clearance of the house if required.
• Capital Gains Tax
• Family Division
• Current Market Values
• Tax Advice - as affected by the sale of works of art and antiques.
• Conditionally exempted works of art - working with clients, accountants or solicitors.
